18

FORT HUACHUCA, Ariz. – The U.S. Army’s Network Enterprise Technology Command put it into overdrive this week as the Army’s enclave-network organization conducted a three-day Senior Leader Development venue to help hyper-focus the commands mission set to meet the needs of its’ customers – the Army and its’ Joint Service mission partners – as more than 50 senior members of the global command met to take on this monumental goal held at the NETCOM Headquarters in Greely Hall, Fort Huachuca, Ariz..

Thus, NETCOM leadership met with direct reporting unit commanders, sergeant majors, senior warrants and Civilians from around the globe as part of the command’s SLD. The SLD event allowed for open dialogue between leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities in operating, sustaining and modernizing the Department of Defense Information Network-Army (DODIN-A), which includes all Army automated information systems and networks. All the discussion helped reinforce the command’s new mission motto titled, NETCOM: Enabling Decision Dominance!

“You guys crush it every day,” said NETCOM Commanding General, Maj. Gen. Christopher Eubank, during a close-out briefing at the end of the gathering. ‘Up front, it’s going to take us to set, the Army Unified Network, (UNO) and get the Army to a better place for 20-30. It takes us to do that, there’s not a modernization effort happening in the Army that a network isn’t involved.”

Eubank spoke about the need to recognize we are in the customer support business and it is a critical one. The general went on to explain there isn’t a unit in the Army that doesn’t have a military or civilian comminutor assigned. As a commander he said no one wants to come to work without a communicator. “We are the biggest communications unit in the Army, and I am pleased to be the Commanding General here.”

Eubank also emphasized as the commander of the Army’s leading network communications organization, he is an easy person to reach and ready to help his expert communicators around the globe 24/7.

“I’m excited about working with you,” the general continued. “If you need anything from me, my email, is on the global, so I can’t escape you. So, if I don’t get to you quickly, please be patient. I will answer your email and we can talk about whatever you want to talk about. My doors always open virtually and physically.”

Eubank continued to explain the level of dedication and commitment Signal Soldiers and Civilians have. “Every day you come to work, there’s no days off, right? You’re not allowed to get a call, at 2:00 in the morning, and then hang the phone up and go back to sleep. Right? And everybody knows there’s no good calls after midnight.

“No, you don’t do that when you get the call. You get up and you solve the problem, or problems, because that’s what we do as a Regiment and I include the Cyber Core, right? That’s what we do as a team! So, I appreciate you being part of this great team.”

Eubank closed his comments talking about the need to gather and communicate directly with each of our Signal brothers and sisters.

“It’s a team effort, it doesn’t always have to be here, but I do want to keep these up Maybe a virtual one. [He said of the SLD event.]

“Thanks for being here. I mean, that from the bottom of our heart. I want to say again, you guys are crushing it. Don’t let anybody tell you different? You guys are crushing it, and that’s why the Army is still working today,” said Eubank.
